A winning start to the 2013 − 14 season

First Half: Haslemere kick off, after several phases the ball is kicked forward and johnny chases the ball and scores a try within a minute of kickoff, 5-0. Petersfield restart Haslemere knock on, Petersfield win the scrum but Haslemere win the ball back, Mgu has a great run forward but is stopped before Haslemere can make the most of it. Play goes back and forth between Haslemere and Petersfield with Haslemere on the front foot most of the time.

Great play from Haslemere after Petersfield steal the lineout, Haslemere win the ball back with excellent play from the forwards. Hugo gets the ball from Haslemere winning the scrum, he passes the ball to Nathan who passes to Johnny who scores 10-0. Haslemere forwards are working hard in the rucking and mauls, all the forwards are getting stuck in, even Darren congratulates them! Haselmere lineout isnt working yet but they win the ball back each time. Some excellent running and offloads by the backs gets hmere from 5 yards out to the Petersfield ten yard line. Petersfield have a passage of play getting them back up the pitch but Haslemere win their scrum under serious pressure from Petersfield and almost get to the Petersfield 22, half time.

Second Half: From the off James catches and takes the ball to the half way line before Haslemere lose the ball. Haslemere turn over a Petersfield scrum get the ball wide and Haslemere get to ten yards out. Several scrums and phases later sees Mgu over the line and Jethro converts, 17 - 0. Haslemere knock on from the off but win the ball back, excellent running from Jethro and all of the backs sees Haslemere 15 yards out. A fantastic run and offload by James sees Johnny get his hat trick, Jethro converts, 24-0. From the off some great play from forwards and backs, Johnny is in the thick of it and Jethro is on a mission. Mgu kicks forward (whats that all about) taking Haslemere into the Petersfield 22. Max takes a knock but is ok after Owen has had to come off due to Mgu landing on him.

Jethro is a man possessed and he and Mgu almost pull off another try down the blind side Mgu is held up. Scrums are now uncontested James picks up and runs in a try which is disallowed. Haslemere get the ball to James again from a reset scrum he scores under the posts, Jethro converts, 31-0. From the off James and Sam take the ball forward supported by the pack. Haslemere get close to scoring several times through Rhys and Henry but Petersfield keep them out. Haslemere keep the pressure on but Petersfield are doing well in defence and keep wrapping up Haslemere in the maul, George, Ed, Max and James to mention a few keep trying to get through but Petersfield are determined to keep us out. Final score 31-0.

Fantastic commitment from all of the players, a few mistakes but its the start of the season and the potential we saw today was awesome. Well done guys it was fantastic and exciting to watch, we even had some of the parents from other age groups watching. One remarked 'they're massive" referring to the Peterfield team.

Man of the match Hugo due to the improvement in his play but there were a number of others who were in the offing.
