Haslemere Rugby launches new Girls Section

As a fully integrated part of Haslemere Community Rugby Club, Haslemere BlueBelles officially launches on Sunday 9th January 2022.

Under the management of ex-international player and Head of Haslemere Ladies Rugby, Joanna Oomen, the Girls section will offer age grade rugby at U12s, U14s and U16s.

Joanna will be supported by a team of qualified coaches under overall direction of a new Director of Girls and Women’s Rugby, Dan Brockhurst. As well as being Head Coach of the 1st XV and Senior Teams, Dan is a full time Rugby Coach and Sports Coordinator. He is presently completing his RFU Level 3 Coaching Award.

Commenting on the plans for 2022, Oomen noted “This is an exciting new venture for the club. Girls Rugby is one of the fastest growing female team sports in the country and I am delighted to be able to announce this as part of the overall Haslemere Rugby programme”.

Brockhurst, who currently provides Girl’s Rugby coaching into a number of local schools, commented: This is a fantastic opportunity for Haslemere Rugby to further extend our community credentials, extend our incredible facilities and become even more inclusive and representative as a club.

Girls Rugby at Haslemere will be open to all, regardless of previous experience and is an opportunity to have fun, get fit and build friendships in a supportive and safe environment.

Training will officially start at 1.00pm, Sunday 9th January 2022.
