A long day at Dorking, 40 minutes of Rugby in 4 hours, but the boys seemed to be having fun between matches even if there were long waits for the parents and coaches.
Won some, lost a few more, scored over 50 tries on the day. Some excellent rugby played by the boys, fantastic recycling and support play and great tagging. We narrowly lost some games by giving possession away without scoring, and in 5 mins each way it is difficult to recover from this. However there were some brilliant team tries where it went through every players hands a few times before we finally scored, as well as some great individual tries run in.
We were tagging really well, and when our defence moved forward we were putting teams under pressure. As the day went on tiredness may have led to us taking backward steps when the opposition had the ball rather than going forward, much harder to defend if they do this.
They certainly put in 100% effort and deserved their medals at the end. Of the teams we played I didn’t see any we couldn’t beat on another day.
I hope they enjoyed it, they all seemed happy at the end.
