Waverley Festival Report

Our first competitive exposure to contested scrums and lineouts.

Haslemere looked strongest in their first match against Camberley (which we won 3-0). They looked strong again in the second match against Cranleigh (2-0 win). It seemed in the following two matches (losses of 1-3 to Farnham than 0-4 to Guildford) that an increasing number of tackles were missed, which was a shame, as this had been so tight in earlier in the day. Thomas and George were star tacklers delivering some absolute *crunchers*! Finlay Hunter contributed the third highest number and eye-watering one from Tom W should be mentioned as he ran back to fell someone thoroughly who was on their way to a certain try.

There was more passing than we had seen before and some unforced passes (i e passes made before running into trouble). Finlay Green did some nice runs at speed, earning two of our six tries. Jaden did some nice runs as well but only got four or so touches.
