A wet dull Sunday is brightened by a convincing league win against Kingston - well done the U16s

A great team performance shows the U16s demonstrating the skill they have worked towards with great passing and line outs that are nailed - helped of course by the featherweight of Swannie - JUNIOR that is! The team kept going until the final whistle,

First half:

Richmond kick off Haslemere drive forward and retain the ball in the breakdown. Owen puts in a good tackle after Haslemere loose the ball in the tackle, Kingston get close to the Haslemere 2 but are taken into touch. Haslemere go forward with Owen but lose the ball in the tackle, Haslemere win the scrum against the head and Owen kicks forward.

Owen follows up the kick and tackles the Kingston player and Haslemere win the ball in the breakdown. Van der Lande runs forward but is tackled Haslemere lose the ball in the breakdown but are awarded a penalty. The ball is passed wide to Mgu who runs down the line but is taken into touch. Lineout isnt straight and Haslemere win the scrum, George takes the ball from the scrum runs through several tackles and scores great try, 5-0.

Kingston kick off, Alex (a welcome return) runs forward, is tackled but Haslemere win the breakdown and Owen kicks forward, Chad is up on them but doesnt make the tackle, Kingston run forward and get within ten yards of the Haslemere line, Mgu makes the tackle, Kingston kick forward into touch. Haslemere win a lineout against the head get the ball to Rhys who makes a great run through several tackles, but is brought down, Haslemere retain the ball and take it forward. Great run by VdL and Owen who get close to the Kingston line, and are awarded a penalty. They take it quickly but Kingston run the ball over and kick clear.

Haslemere get close to the Kingston line through several phases of play, George is instrumental in getting Haslemere close to the line and Henry gets over to score the second Haslemere try, 10-0. Haslemere win their scrum, lose the ball but Kingston knock on Nathan runs forward supported by Rhys, and VdL who runs forward to the Kingston 10 yard line, several phases are played with Haslemere retaining the ball, until Kingston charge down a kick and kick forward themselves. Haslemere remain in the Kingston half, after several passages of play Henry links up with Owen who passes to Rhys who takes the ball forward.

Several phases later George gets the ball to Chad who runs through several players, Henry gets the ball out to George who runs forward going through several Kingston players passes the ball to Owen who runs through and scores, 17-0. From the off Nathan is tackled hard but bounces back up, Kingston are awarded a penalty but when running up the blind side are taken into touch. Haslemere are back into the Kingston half through Chad, Nathan and Ed, they get the ball wide to George and we are tackled ten yards out.

Haslemere retain the ball and get it wide to Sam who is taken into touch one yard out but a penalty is awarded to a high tackle. He takes the penalty quickly but is taken into touch again. Haslemere steal a lineout, Chad runs forward but is tackled and Kingston are awarded a scrum. They kick forward after winning the scrum, the ball is hit by Rhys who runs forward gets through several tackles and makes a great offload to Nathan, who passes & there is a run through several tackles passes to Owen who kicks forward. After several phases of play Haslemere win the ball back and pass to Owen who runs through several tackles until he is tackled several yards out, George gets within a yard but is tackled, the ball is recycled but Haslemere knock on.

Henry makes a great tackle, Haslemere win the ball get it out and there is a run resulting in Haslemeres fourth try, 22-0.

After several passages of play Chad makes a great tackle, Kingston retain the ball and Sam makes a great tackle, Mgu tries to steal the ball but Kingston continue going forward. Haslemere turn over the ball and Ed runs forward gets great support and Max runs forward, he is taken into touch which signals half time.
